Crystal Collier, PhD

Crystal Collier, PhD, herself a person in long-term recovery, is a therapist and educator whose comprehensive prevention model, which teaches the neurodevelopmental effects of risky behavior to students, school staff, and families, was selected for the Prevention and Education Commendation from the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.

Since 1991, her clinical work focuses on adolescents and adults suffering from mental illness, behavioral problems and substance use disorders. Her area of expertise includes adolescent neurodevelopment, prevention programming, parent coaching, addiction, family-of-origin work, and training new clinicians.

Clear Lake Presbyterian Church

Kathy has been part of the mental health ministry at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church since its beginning in 2017. She is a tireless advocate for mental wellness and education. She is a champion of the Hope and Healing Center and has been instrumental in incorporating their programs in our current mental health ministry. Kathy is the driving force behind our mental health needs assessment which shapes our ministry. She’s a trained mental health coach. Kathy is also diligent about sharing the importance of mental health ministry through the community. She works to bring people together to share ideas and resources. Kathy Graglia is a valued advocate and leads with her heart in the Clear Lake community.

Dr. Marcus D. Cosby

Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church

Under Dr. Cosby’s leadership the Children’s Ministry has instituted a program for the parents of and for the children living with autism and learning disabilities. All children are included in ministry and teachers are instructed on how to assure children with special needs are shown love and compassion.
Though the congregation numbers well over 12,000 there is assistance and a ministry for people living with mental illness, substance addiction, or other emotional challenges.
Dr. Cosby also exhibits sensitivity and respect for people living with mental illness in his sermons and his direction to his staff.
Wheeler has a long-time, fully funded Counseling Center with a doctorate-level, full-time licensed and ordained professional counselor in leadership. Each Monday the Counseling Center sponsors a “mental health moment where speakers on mental health share vital information for those living with or impacted by mental illness. Each Sunday during service there are prayer counselors in red stoles visible and available to those in distress.

She's an amazing pastor and mental health coach. She has helped so many walk through trauma, stresses of life, and bringing a perspective of hope for broken peices. She's a Shepard that cares and has love for her flock. She loves God and shows the love of God to those she encounters.

Empowering You Ministries

Evangelist Cynthia Collins is passionate about bringing awareness on mental health to high school students. She produced a documentary with high school students to give information to the community about the issue.

Pamela Mickens

St Luke Community UMC

Pamela has been an extraordinary and inspiring leader of the St. Luke Community UMC Mental Health Ministry for more than eight years. Under her visionary guidance, our team has grown from humble beginnings a decade ago to remarkable heights of impact and transformation. This month, Pamela and our dedicated ministry team hosted our tenth Mental Health Symposium—a deeply moving and transformative event commemorating Bebe Moore Campbell Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.
