Addiction & Behavioral Health Disorders
Behavioral health and substance use disorders can significantly impact one’s quality of life, relationships, and overall well-being. These disorders are very common and often go untreated.
We offer a 6-hour online specialization training for Mental Health Coaches, where you will learn the difference between mental and behavioral health. We will discuss addiction, not just to substances, but also to shopping, gaming and gambling, and the role the body’s dopamine reward system plays in addiction. We will also discuss eating disorders and self-harm. And, you will learn to guide individuals towards lasting recovery and emotional wellness.
Child & Adolescent Mental Health
Half of all chronic mental health conditions begin by 14 years of age and three-quarters begin by the age of 24. The majority of individuals will receive no treatment. For those lucky enough to receive treatment, the average length of time between onset and treatment is 11 years. Imagine a 15-year-old girl with an eating disorder that doesn’t receive treatment until she is 26.
We offer a 6-hour online specialization training for Mental Health Coaches, where you will learn how to help identify mental or behavioral health difficulties early and connect the family with proper treatment and support. Aging & Elder Care
Getting older isn’t easy! There are many experiences that older people face, such as age-related health conditions or losing loved ones, that are very challenging to mental health. 1 in 9 people over 65 face dementia, and up to 25% of all people in long-term care suffer from depression. 50% goes untreated.
We offer a 6-hour online specialization training for Mental Health Coaches, where you will learn how to support elders and their caregivers. You will learn how to support the 1 in 5 adults in your community who provide caregiving in the home, as well as the many others who do it on a professional basis. We share ethical considerations and how to help elders keep autonomy and self-determination in health care decisions. And we will share ideas for how to foster resilience in elders, including how to foster storytelling and spirituality to help seniors express what matters to them.

Trauma
Trauma is common. It is estimated that between 60-70% of people experience at least one traumatic event in their lifetimes. People respond to traumatic events differently, and part of that difference may have to do with past history. Empathy, validation and non judgment are the most important responses when someone shares a traumatic experience.
We offer a 6-hour online specialization training for Mental Health Coaches, where you will learn how to recognize trauma, its causes, effects, and prevalence. You will also learn skills for relating to someone who has experienced trauma, how to refer them and work with providers, and how to help them heal from traumatic experiences.
